The Reason Why?
I am taking on The Push-Up Challenge to raise vital funds and awareness for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Mental health is a journey we all navigate, and I’ve chosen to participate for three reasons that are very close to my heart:
1. Pushing Personal Boundaries
I want to challenge myself both physically and mentally. This isn't just about the numbers; it’s about stepping completely out of my comfort zone and committing to something demanding. By pushing my own limits, I’m reminded of the strength we all carry within us, even when things get tough.
2. Standing with my Whaanau and Community
I am doing this to show my unwavering support for my whaanau, my friends, and the wider community. Too many people fight silent battles with mental health issues every day. I want them to know they are seen, they are supported, and they do not have to carry the weight alone.
3. Empowering our Tamariki
As a secondary school Drama teacher, I see firsthand the challenges our young people face in the New Zealand education system. I am passionate about advocating for the continued help and guidance they need to navigate the daily struggles of life.
In the drama room, we talk about bravery and performance, but in life, the greatest act of courage is resilience. I want to show our tamariki that with persistence and support, they can accomplish anything—making the "impossible" possible.
Every dollar raised helps the Mental Health Foundation provide the tools and resources needed to ensure no one has to go through their struggle alone. Thank you for supporting me and this important cause.
Together, we can make a difference.

Supporting Mental Health Foundation
Funds raised will invested by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand [The MHF] in three core areas of mahi:
- Promoting everyday actions that lift mental wellbeing
- Providing tools that support people through tough times
- Advocating for a better mental health system and society
With your tautoko/support, we can build a fairer, more connected Aotearoa where everyone’s mental health is valued and protected.
Whāia te hauora hinengaro kia puāwai ai te hauora tangata - there is no health without mental health.
