About My Challenge

As a Physical Education teacher, I see every day how closely taha tinana (physical wellbeing) and taha hinengaro (mental and emotional wellbeing) are linked within the Hauora model. When one part is strengthened, the other is supported and when either is struggling, it affects the whole person.

That’s why this February, I’m taking on a challenge that pushes both mind and body.

I’ll be completing 2,000 push-ups across 25 days to raise awareness and support for mental health in Aotearoa. This challenge isn’t just about building physical strength  it’s about recognising the importance of mental wellness, checking in with ourselves and others, and making conversations about mental health a normal part of everyday life.

Your support helps the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand continue their work to build a future where every New Zealander’s mental wellbeing is valued, protected, and prioritised.

I’m pushing for stronger bodies, stronger minds, and a stronger community.

Ngā mihi for your support.

Supporting Mental Health Foundation

Funds raised will invested by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand [The MHF] in three core areas of mahi:

  • Promoting everyday actions that lift mental wellbeing
  • Providing tools that support people through tough times
  • Advocating for a better mental health system and society

With your tautoko/support, we can build a fairer, more connected Aotearoa where everyone’s mental health is valued and protected.

Whāia te hauora hinengaro kia puāwai ai te hauora tangata - there is no health without mental health.
