About My Challenge

I’m taking on the 2,000 Push Ups in February challenge to support mental health services in New Zealand.

Like many people involved, my reason for doing this is personal. At the end of 2021, my sister Jo lost her eldest son to mental health. Since then, Jo—alongside her husband Danny—has been navigating profound grief while also supporting their four remaining children, who are each carrying the loss of a brother and their own ongoing trauma.

This challenge is about raising awareness, but more importantly, it’s about contributing to practical support for individuals and families who are living with the realities of mental health challenges every day. Too many families are affected, and too often the support comes too late.

If this fundraiser helps raise funds, start conversations, or support even one family, then the effort is worth it.

Thank you for any support you’re able to give.

Supporting Mental Health Foundation

Funds raised will invested by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand [The MHF] in three core areas of mahi:

  • Promoting everyday actions that lift mental wellbeing
  • Providing tools that support people through tough times
  • Advocating for a better mental health system and society

With your tautoko/support, we can build a fairer, more connected Aotearoa where everyone’s mental health is valued and protected.

Whāia te hauora hinengaro kia puāwai ai te hauora tangata - there is no health without mental health.
