About My Challenge
Since finding the gym and starting to work out in the beginning of 2023 I noticed a U turn in my own mental health. The gym offered me an outlet, a safe space and a point of consistency to always come back to. I have learnt so much about the importance of showing up for yourself on the good and the bad days, and the confidence offered through this. After seeing this challenge I figured it would be a fun way to both test my strength and endurance both mentally and physically, while also spreading an important word around awareness for mental health, especially in young adults and those in complicated and confusing times. The challenge is to complete 2,000 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health, however I will be trying for 2000 in as few days as possible while still continuing to get as many done as possible in the total 23 days, thus symbolising the importance of continuing to push on, past when it seems necessary. My motivation for this is around the social aspect, hoping for a positive impact, raised awareness and also to spark conversation and encourage others to reach out to loved ones. Hence I do not want or expect any donations, however I will leave the link attached.Supporting Mental Health Foundation
Funds raised will invested by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand [The MHF] in three core areas of mahi:
- Promoting everyday actions that lift mental wellbeing
- Providing tools that support people through tough times
- Advocating for a better mental health system and society
With your tautoko/support, we can build a fairer, more connected Aotearoa where everyone’s mental health is valued and protected.
Whāia te hauora hinengaro kia puāwai ai te hauora tangata - there is no health without mental health.
