About My Challenge

I’m taking on 2000 push-ups this February, not just as a physical challenge, but as a reminder that mental health can affect ANYONE.
Strong, capable, active people. Parents. Partners. Community leaders. People who “LOOK FINE.”

Mental health doesn’t exist in isolation. It lives inside families, friendships, workplaces, and communities. When one person struggles, it ripples outward — and when support is present, that ripple can move the other way too.

MOVEMENT has always been one of the most powerful tools I’ve seen for mental wellbeing. Not because it “fixes” everything, but because it helps regulate stress, lift mood, restore a sense of control, and remind us that our bodies are still working for us, even when life feels heavy.

MOVEMENT creates space to BREATHE, to PROCESS, and to RECONNECT
.
Just as important as movement is connection.  WE ARE NOT MEANT TO DO HARD THING ALONE. Families, friends, and communities are vital — not to rescue or solve, but to listen, to notice, and to stay present.

Sometimes support looks like training together. Sometimes it looks like checking in. Sometimes it’s just showing up.

This February, I’m creating a small, supportive community of people to take this challenge on together.
NO PRESSURE
NO PERFECTION   — just shared effort, encouragement, and movement with meaning.

Whether you do push-ups in one go daily or spread them out, this is about PARTICIPATION, not PREFORMANCE.

If you’ve ever been affected by mental health — personally, or through someone you love — this is for you.
Let’s move our bodies, support each other, and remind ourselves that strength is built together.

Supporting Mental Health Foundation

Funds raised will invested by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand [The MHF] in three core areas of mahi:

  • Promoting everyday actions that lift mental wellbeing
  • Providing tools that support people through tough times
  • Advocating for a better mental health system and society

With your tautoko/support, we can build a fairer, more connected Aotearoa where everyone’s mental health is valued and protected.

Whāia te hauora hinengaro kia puāwai ai te hauora tangata - there is no health without mental health.
