About My Challenge

I'm completing 2,000 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

In 2025 I have experienced a lot of change with going into my first year of university. Moving out of home to a new city, flatting for the first time and breaking up with my ex of 3 years. With so much change my mental health has seen a roller-coaster of up's and down's, fortunately I have the luxury of support from my friends and family who continuously inspire me to reach new heights. In 2025 I have come to realise that not everyone feels as lucky as I am.

This year, I my flatmate, my friend and someone who I call a brother, lost his battle with mental health. Noah Nithyagenesh took his life in May, in the same flat we both were once excited to call a home. It breaks me to think he felt like he wasn't enough and that the world would be better off without him in it. Most of all it hurts to know he felt like he couldn't speak his truth to us, the friends and family around him.

I am doing the push up challenge to raise awareness for people like Noah. No one should ever feel so alone in a world so big. Speak up to the people around you, sometimes life gets so thick it might seem impossible to believe that someone has your back but that is so far from the truth, you will always have someone who will love you unconditionally. We would love to hear about your hardships rather then say goodbye forever.

Please support me as I push for better mental health from 5-27 February. All proceeds help the Mental Health Association of New Zealand build a future where mental health is treasured, protected and prioritised.

Dedicated to: Noah Nithyaganesh

Supporting Mental Health Foundation

Funds raised will invested by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand [The MHF] in three core areas of mahi:

  • Promoting everyday actions that lift mental wellbeing
  • Providing tools that support people through tough times
  • Advocating for a better mental health system and society

With your tautoko/support, we can build a fairer, more connected Aotearoa where everyone’s mental health is valued and protected.

Whāia te hauora hinengaro kia puāwai ai te hauora tangata - there is no health without mental health.
