About My Challenge

This month, I’m taking on a personal version of the 2000 Push-Up Challenge — not with push-ups alone, but with 2,000 alternative exercises such as squats, resistance-band pushes, and lunges over 23 days. I’ve adapted the challenge to suit my physical ability, but the purpose remains the same: to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

I live with PTSD and depression. Every day can be a battle — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Completing this challenge will push me in ways that go far beyond muscle fatigue. Some days, just getting out of bed is a victory.

There was a time when I reached out for mental health support and didn’t get very far. I felt unheard. Unseen. Like I wasn’t enough. Like no one cared. Those feelings led me to a very dark place. I reached the edge and attempted to take my own life.

But in that moment, I found the courage to speak up. I reached out to friends, and they brought me home. They saved my life.

Last year, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Since then, I’ve spent a long time fighting to be taken seriously within the public healthcare system — fighting to be seen, to be heard, and to get help. FND is a condition that often falls between the cracks, and many times I’ve felt invisible. Every decline, every closed door, crushed me a little more.

But I’m still here.

And this month, I’m showing up — not just for myself, but for anyone who feels invisible, hopeless, or alone.

I’m doing this for the people who are struggling in silence.
For the ones who feel like they don’t matter.
For the ones who think giving up is the only option.

You matter.
You are enough.
You are important.

If you’re able to donate, share, or follow along, you’re helping change lives — including mine. Together, we can remind people that they are not alone and that support is possible.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
All proceeds help the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand build a future where mental health is treasured, protected and prioritised.
