About My Challenge
Kia ora my fellow Kiwis,
I’m Erin, a Wellingtonian, a student at the University of Otago, and someone who finds home in te Moana. The ocean is my refuge, my safe space, my teacher. It reminds me that life moves, it changes, and even through the big waves, there’s a rhythm to it, a way forward.
Life isn’t always gentle. Some waves are small, easy to ride. Others hit us hard. They push, they pull, they leave us lost. Similar to what mental health struggles can feel like. Unpredictable. Relentless. But we keep going. We keep riding the wave. We keep trying.
I’m taking on the push up challenge to face my own waves, to prove to myself that commitment, courage, and time can carry us through the roughest waters. Every push up is a small act of resilience. Every day is a choice to rise, even when it’s hard.
This is for my whānau, my community, and for anyone who has felt like the tide is too strong to fight. Your aroha, your support, your presence matters. Together, we can help each other ride the waves, and remind one another that no one faces the storm alone.
Aroha nui,
Erin
